ACRYLIC: Used for some headlight lens, bathroom ware and display units
ABS/PC: Generally found in high impact car parts
ABS/PBT: New blend of ABS and Polybutalene tetralhalate, used for later model motorcycle farings
AES: High impact styrenic material with superior weatherability to ABS
ASA: LURAN S – another styrenic blend with superior weatherability and temperature resistance to ABS or PVC for some Ford exterior trim
PA6: A specifically modified Type 6 nylon with improved impact resistance and good welding properties
PC: Polycarbonate – used in a variety of products requiring clarity, high impact or electrical properties
PC/PBT: XENOY – A blend of polycarbonate and poly butalene tetrathalate . Used in some car dash boards
PC/PET: A blend of polycarbonate and polyethylene tetrathalate found in at least brands of ride-on mowers – and colour matched accordingly
POM: ACETAL resin. A crystalline engineering plastic found in bearings, springs or mouldings requiring superior dimensional stability to nylons or products requiring fatigue resistance and resistance to repeated impact or loadings. Very acrid fumes when welding
PPO: (NORYL) – used in appliance housings requiring high temperature or SE – O properties with easy moulding and good dimensional stability
PP/EPDM: A rubber modified polypropylene used for Ford, Nissan, Mitsubishi, Honda and other bumpers
PUR: General purpose grade polyurethane where clarity is not important. For bumpers or industrial moldings
PUR-C: (High clarity grade) – with excellent welding characteristics
TPR: Another rubber modified PP used in General Motors bumpers
ABS: General purpose ABS grade available in limited colours. Uses include motor cycle farings, appliances housing, carparts
ABS BLEND: A special blend developed for repairing ABS motorcycle farings. More expensive than ABS but has improved ductility, with better sanding and finishing characteristics
HIPS: High impact Polystyrene used for toys and non critical car parts
HMWPE: Will weld both HMWPE and U-HMWPE sheets. Temperatures need to be very high and air flow a minimum for good adhesion and to minimize distortion
U-HMWPE: Higher molecular weight than HMWPE – with similar welding requirements. Is much more expensive
HDPE-C: (Crate grade) – UV stabilized, formulation for high speed wedling a variety of injection moulded crates and bins. Available in a wide range of industry colours.
HDPE-P: (Pipe grade) – formulated for welding pipes, sheet or extruded and blow moulded products
MDPE-R: (Rotational grade) – UV stabilized formulated for welding tanks, bins, drums or products made by the rotational molding process. Available in a full range of ‘Cotene’ tank colours
MDPE-P: (Pipe grade) – For welding MDPE pipes, sheet etc
P.E (L-LDPE): UV stabilized – A versatile blend of linear polyethylene plus adhesion promoter allowing it to adhere to all densities of polyethylene. Available In a wide range of colours – including motorcycle colours
PP-C: (Crate grade) – High impact copolymer for high speed welding of crates, bins and automotive parts. Has good sanding properties for car bumpers etc. Available In a wide range of industry colours for crates, motorcycles and car headlamp bodies
PP-S: (Sheet grade) – A recent addition for welding polypropylene sheet or extruded products – UV stabilised
PP-H: HOMOPOLYMER polypropylene for sheet or moulded products
PP-RAN: Random Copolymer of polypropylene (RANCO)
PVC: Rigid PVC – Formulated for good ‘weldability’ ductility and sanding characteristics. Good acid resistance
PVC-F: Flexible (soft) – General purpose PVC
